Technical SEO FAQ · URL Architecture, Internal Linking & Information Architecture
How do you build an internal-linking strategy for a large website?
Start with page importance and relationships.
For each important page, determine:
- which pages should link to it;
- what contextual relationship those links represent;
- what anchor text is natural and descriptive;
- whether the link is crawlable;
- whether the destination is canonical.
Then audit inbound internal-link counts and source quality.
The goal is not maximizing links. It is creating a useful, crawlable information graph.
