What Is an HTTPS Migration?

HTTPS migration is the process of moving a website from unencrypted HTTP to encrypted HTTPS, requiring careful redirects to avoid losing search rankings.

Google treats an HTTP-to-HTTPS move as a full site migration for tracking purposes, even though the content doesn't change — it still needs a redirect map and Search Console monitoring.
