What Is HTTPS?

HTTPS is HTTP delivered over an encrypted connection, confirmed as a lightweight Google ranking signal and required for many modern browser features to work.

HTTPS is table stakes rather than a differentiator today — its bigger SEO risk is mixed-content errors and mishandled HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects during migration.
