What Is a 301 Redirect?
A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect that tells browsers and search engines a URL has moved, transferring the bulk of its ranking signals to the new one.
Google no longer distinguishes 301s from 302s as strongly as it once did for ranking-signal transfer, but 301 remains the correct semantic choice for genuinely permanent moves.
