What Is Canonicalization?
Canonicalization is the process search engines and site owners use to choose one authoritative URL when multiple addresses return the same or similar content.
Canonicalization signals come from several places at once — canonical tags, redirects, internal links, and sitemaps — and Google weighs all of them together, not just the tag.
