What Is Faceted Navigation?

Faceted navigation is a filter-based browsing system, common on e-commerce sites, that can generate a very large number of near-duplicate, crawlable URLs.

Uncontrolled faceted navigation is one of the most common causes of crawl-budget waste and index bloat on e-commerce sites — the fix combines canonicalization, parameter rules, and selective indexing.
